On Saturday, May 3, the Yukon Hospital Foundation was thrilled to welcome over 230 young patients, along with their teddies, turtles, and even a snake, for the return of the beloved Teddy Bear Clinic at Whitehorse General Hospital.
Designed to help children feel more comfortable in a hospital setting, the Teddy Bear Clinic offered fun, hands-on experiences for kids to bring their stuffed animals through a series of health check-ups, from bandaging to X-rays, pharmacy visits to finger painting. The event created a playful and welcoming environment, helping ease fears while encouraging curiosity about medical care.
“We’re so grateful to all the families, sponsors, staff, and volunteers who helped bring this sweet event to life,” said Karen Forward, President of the Yukon Hospital Foundation. “It was truly heartwarming to see so many children engaged, smiling, and learning as their beloved stuffed animals received such excellent care.”
This year’s event was made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: The Adams Family, Total Trac Rentals, and the Fetherstonhaugh Family Foundation. We’d also like to thank McDonald’s for providing treats for participants and Tupperware Whitehorse for donating mini containers for our pharmacy station.
A special thank you goes out to the incredible clinical team at Whitehorse General Hospital, the Yukon Hospital Corporation, and the dedicated volunteers from our Foundation crew. We also sincerely thank the Whitehorse Fire Department and Yukon EMS for joining the fun and bringing real-life emergency vehicles for children to explore.
The return of the Teddy Bear Clinic was a joyful reminder of what we can achieve when our community comes together to support the health and well-being of Yukon children.
