MRI

MRI has two main applications at this time. First, it is the best way to visualize joints, and has revolutionized orthopaedic radiology.  The second application is neurology. The CT scan is useful in studying the brain, and can detect bleeding and strokes very well. However, the CT scan remains limited. It cannot visualize the spinal cord, nor can it detect certain lesions such as multiple sclerosis.  MRI does both of these things extremely well, and it is clear that the number of patients needing to travel out of territory would be greatly reduced if this service was available locally.
